Mary Ellen Palazzolo, 68, of Springfield, died at 8:37 pm, Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born July 7, 1950 in Essex, MO, to Marvin H. and Loretta Smith Butler. She married Michael Palazzolo on November 6, 1971 and he survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Stephanie (Mark) Michelle Berowski of Smithton, IL; two grandchildren, Alex and Allison Berowski and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, James Brown; two sisters, Naomi King and Sue Norman.
Mary worked as a Teacher’s Aide for District 186. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church.
She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Elvis fan. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading.
Visitation: 1-3 pm, Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with a prayer service at 1pm.
Lie-in-state: 9-9:45 am, Monday, February 4, 2019 at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Chatham.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 am, Monday, February 4, 2019 at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Chatham, with Fr. John Nolan officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
