Mary Ellen Kovar-Kamnick, 64, of Chatham, died at Memorial Medical Center on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. She was born on August 16, 1947 in Oak Park, IL to Joseph and Catherine Labushewicz Kovar. She married Albert F. Kamnick, Jr. on May 20, 1972. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Albert, one daughter, Rebekah Kovar Kamnick of Chatham, one brother, Patrick (Sara) Kovar of Champaign and three nephews, Bret Kovar of Alaska, Lucas (Erin) Kovar of California and Will Kamnick of North Carolina.
Mary Ellen has been a resident of Chatham since 1988. She was employed by the State of Illinois and spent most of her career at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired.
Memorial Gathering: 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Suann Meyer officiating.
A remembrance service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Abraham Lincoln Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 745 Woodside Road, Springfield, IL 62711.
Memorials may be made to the Kovar-Kamnick Scholarship Fund for Veteran’s Children or your favorite charity in honor of Mary.
