HENRY – Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Bellm of Henry, formerly of Springfield, passed away peacefully on May 11, at Heartland Health Care Center in Henry, IL, with her family at her side.
Born July 24, 1925 in St. Louis, where she graduated from St. Elizabeth’s Academy, she was married in 1948 to C.V. (Cy) Bellm, who preceded her in death in 1994.
She is survived by her four children, Eileen Schultz (spouse, Randy), of Seneca, Dan Bellm (spouse, Yoel Kahn) of San Francisco, Tom Bellm (spouse, Ruthie) of Springfield and Carol Frank of Chillicothe; as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
Known by all for her patient and loving good nature, Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved reading, walking and gardening. She visited 49 of the 50 states, all but Alaska, over many years of travel. She was sustained throughout her life by her Catholic faith and was a member of St. Agnes Parish. She belonged to many organizations and was an active volunteer. Her volunteer efforts included Christ the King School, St. Monica’s Home and the St. Martin DePorres Food Pantry.
Visitation will be at Staab Funeral Home on Sunday, May 16, 2010, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. There will be a funeral Mass at St. Agnes Catholic Church on Monday, May 17, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. with internment at Camp Butler Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Martin DePorres Food Pantry.
