Mary C. Noseck

Mary C. Noseck, 83, of Springfield died at 8:25 am, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Heritage Health. She was born on December 17, 1934 in Fulton County, IL to Cecil G. and Iva (Lafferty) Covey. She married James A. Noseck on November 17, 1956, and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2012. Surviving are one son, J. Dee (Janell) Noseck of Springfield; one brother, Delvin Covey of Harlingen, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Covey and two brothers, Donald and Francis Covey.

Mary was of the Catholic faith. She had been involved in the PTA at Harvard Park, Jefferson Middle School and Southeast High School. She was a member of the Memorial Hospital Nurses Association and Harvard Park Neighborhood. Mary was a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital and Springfield Clinic retiring after 30 years of service.

Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend James Isaacson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

I knew Mary from the Harvard Park Neighborhood Association. I was on the Board with her for awhile. I liked her so much, she was a great person who truly cared about others. She will be missed by all fortunate enough to have known her.

I was raised by a village and Mary was very much a part of that village. She looked after me when I had to stay home from school with the chicken pox and gave me my first summer job tending to her gardens. She made every 4th of July and Christmas extra special. When she knew I was home alone and a storm was coming she called to make sure I was okay or see if I needed somewhere to go. She taught me to play piano and showed me the ways of Benny Goodman. At her own peril, she taught me how to use a sewing machine. With her, no craft project was impossible. I am lucky to have been included in her family and so very grateful for her kindness and generosity. I will miss her. JD and Janell, know I am sending love and prayers your way.
