SPRINGFIELD – Mary A. Wall, 95, of Springfield, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died at her home at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008.
Mrs. Wall was born in Springfield, the daughter of Joseph and Rena DeSilva; they preceded her in death.
She also was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lloyd L. Wall in 1995; her son, Jack L. Wall in 1973; and two sisters-in-law, Frances and Lorraine Wall.
Mrs. Wall retired from Horace Mann Insurance Co. of Springfield as director of personnel. Previously she had been associated with the Illinois Daily Newspaper Market, representing all daily newspapers in Illinois as manager of research and marketing for 12 years.
She was a member of National Personnel Managers Association and Sangamon County Home Bureau. She was a volunteer of Illinois Governors Restoration of Mansion, American Cancer Association of Florida and Hope School of Springfield. She was a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church of Springfield.
She is survived by her cousin, Doris Jesberg of St. Louis, formerly of Springfield; granddaughters, Diane (husband, John) Knox of St. Louis, Corinne Thompson of Edwardsville; beloved great-grandson, Jacob Thompson of Edwardsville; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jack (Susanne) Wall of Springfield.
A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Cherry Hills Baptist Church, with Pastor Steve Patzia officiating. Private interment will held at a later date.
