Martha A. Blair, 78, of Springfield, IL, died at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born in Springfield on June 14, 1934 to the late Silas Neace and Fannie Mae Dye Glisson. She is also preceded in death by four brothers, Silas Neace, Jr., Marvin, Charles and Jack Glisson.
Martha married Doug Blair on November 22, 1956 and he survives. She also is survived by three sons, Roger (Fran) Blair of Houston, TX, John (Karen) Blair of Bloomington and Steve (Teresa) Blair of Ijamsville, MD; five grandchildren; one sister, Mary Francis (Richard) Jelliffe of Harrisburg, IL; one brother, Gary Glisson of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Martha enjoyed gardening, and was an avid reader, she followed Illini sports and was a member of Kio Omega at U of I. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science from ISNU. She was active in her children’s lives and involved in various activities, including serving as a past Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Martha taught school before becoming a stay at home mom and homemaker.
Memorial Gathering: 2-4 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 4 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012 with Reverend David Venter officiating. Private burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
