Marlene K. Carlson, 65, of Springfield, died at 10:30 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2014. She was born March 26, 1948 in Chicago, the daughter of Walida and Ernst Boehlke.
She attended Luther High School in Chicago from 1964-1966, Elmhurst College from 1966-1968, and Evangelical School of Nursing from 1966-1969, graduating with an RN Degree. She joined the Springfield Clinic in 1982, where she worked until her death. She taught CPR for many years and enjoyed sewing and crocheting gifts for friends.
She married Arthur Carlson on August 16, 1969 in Chicago. They divorced in 1985.
Surviving are two daughters, Jackie (Josh) Matteson and Karen Carlson (James) Hawker; three grandchildren; a sister, Sandra (Richard) Mitchell of Las Vegas; two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation: 5 -7 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church.
Funeral Service: 7 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Thomas Christell officiating.
Burial will be at Bethania Cemetery in Justice, Illinois at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
