Marjorie L. Flowers, 71 of Springfield, Illinois died at St. John’s Hospice at 2:05 pm, Wednesday, July 8, 2009. She was born on November 29, 1937 in Peoria, Illinois to Wayne and Evelyn Plack Flowers. They preceded her in death. She was a resident of Springfield since 1962 formerly of Peoria. She is survived by 3 sisters Marilyn Monair of Peoria, Janet (husband: Donald) Vallianatos of Brimfield, Illinois and Mildred Millie Ross of Springfield, 1 brother Robert (wife: Linda) Flowers of Peoria, 3 nieces, 3 nephews and several great nieces and nephews. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria and attended Concordia Lutheran Church in Springfield. Marjorie graduated from Woodruff High School in 1955. She was a member of the Lunch Bunch; enjoyed her flower garden and was a Blue Ribbon winner for her violets. She enjoyed visiting and helping others and loved playing card with her sisters and brother. Marjorie owned and operated Louise’s Beauty Shop. Then worked at Illinois Department of Natural Resources as an accountant from which she retired. Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Springfield, IL with a funeral service there at 3 pm. An additional visitation will be held from 10-11 am, Monday, July 13, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL with a funeral service there at 11 am. Reverend James Hennig officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL; Concordia Lutheran Church in Springfield, IL or to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Staab Funeral Home in Springfield, IL is in charge of arrangements.
