Marian L. Swigert, 87, of Springfield, died at 7:45 pm, Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Villa East Healthcare in Sherman. She was born May 8, 1923 in Springfield, IL to Ross and Alma Alexander. She married Floyd M. Swigert in 1944 and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1999. Her parents, a son, Steven D. Swigert, a grandson; David Swigert, 2 brothers; Keith and Ross Alexander and 2 sisters; Ruth Ellen Nelson and Paula McCoy also preceded her in death.
She is survived by four daughters, JoAnn Simmons of Chatham, Patricia Ackerman, Donna (John) Morgan, and Lynnette Long all of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, Lynn (Andy) Bee, Steven D. Swigert, Jr., Scott (Kelly) Swigert, Chad Swigert, Tim (Lilly) Swigert, Alex (Trish) Swigert, Tonia (Jim) Morrell, Brittany Long, Taylor “T.J.” Long, Cole Long and Chantel Long; one step granddaughter, Cathy Wenneborg; seven great grandchildren, Meredith Bee, Nathan, Abigail and Zachary Swigert, Austin and Emma Morrell, and Carter Long; two brothers, Richard (Rosemary) Alexander of Rochester and David (Sandra) Alexander of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marian was a lifelong resident of Springfield and worked for Capitol Bank & Trust Co. Trust Department and then for Town & Country Bank Trust Department, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the Women’s Bowling Association. She loved bowling, bingo, playing cards, traveling, doing ceramics and her family.

Burial will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association
