Margaret “Peggy” Jackson (Brooks), a long-time resident of Springfield, IL, died on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Illinois. Margaret was born on June 16, 1929, in Springfield, Illinois to LaVern and Almeda (Blackwell) Brooks. She attended Feitshans High School, and soon after graduation, was employed at Illinois Bell/AT&T for 46 years, until her retirement.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Billie Bixler, Sherman, Illinois; sister-in-law Mrs. Peggy Ann Brooks, Sun City West, AZ; daughters Mrs. Peggy (Marc) Mitchell, Edwardsville, Illinois, Mrs. Bobbie (Dana) Hughes, Aurora, Colorado, and Mrs. Toni (Nicholas) Carter, Collinsville, Illinois; grandchildren Erica (Alfred) Littlejohn, Dana (Davina) Hughes Jr., Robert Alexander, Albert Alexander, Dr. Barbara Hughes, Bridgette (Maxwell) Kelley, Callaghan Carter, Erin (Brett) Carter, Haleigh Carter, Jabari and Kamali Mitchell; son-in-law Steven Alexander; numerous loving great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of long-time friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Jackson; daughter Billie Margaret Alexander, parents, LaVern & Almeda Brooks, brothers, Stanley Brooks & Stephen Brooks and sister Barbara Brooks.
Visitation: Visitation will be held at 9:30 am – 11:00 am Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Funeral Mass: 11 am, Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Braden Maher officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
