SPRINGFIELD – Margaret Peggy Friedmeyer, 81, of Springfield died at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
She was born June 20, 1928, in Springfield, the daughter of J.G. and Margaret X. Dorr Friedmeyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Whitey Friedmeyer.
She is survived by a sister, Susan Bowe of Springfield; two nieces; four nephews; and several cousins.
Peggy was a lifelong resident of Springfield.
She was a commercial artist at Illinois Bell for 35 years, never missing a day of work.
She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and was a member of Christ the King Church. Peggy was a member of Phi Tau Omega National Sorority with which she was very active with children’s volunteer work. She helped, supported and was a sponsor of the Midwest Charity Horse Show and assisted with introducing children at Camp Coco to horses. She showed and exhibited horses at many area horseshows.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Christ the King Church, with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
