Margaret "Peg" Louise (Krebs) Wilson

February 20, 1942 - May 26, 2018

Margaret Louise (Krebs) Wilson was called home on Saturday, May 26, 2018 after a brief yet spirited battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 76. She is survived by her devoted husband David, five children, eight grandchildren and two sisters.

Born in Springfield, IL on February 20, 1942, to Paul and Anna Krebs, Peg was possessed of an engaging wit and acerbic sense of humor that wasn’t always sweet, she met the love of her life and her best friend, David Wilson. The two were married August 22, 1964, and were rarely apart for the next 54+ years.

Peg’s five children kept her busy, but she still found time to help out in the community and in her parish. She often volunteered to drive for school field trips, and was a popular and active member of St. Aloysius’s Altar and Rosary Society.

After her children were grown, she made the transition to beloved grandma. Peg and Dave’s house became a favorite place to visit for all eight of her grandchildren, who found decades’ worth of toys to play with, classic Mickey Mouse tapes to watch, and a seemingly endless supply of Cheezits to munch on.

Peg found relaxation by solving crossword and sudoku puzzles, and she loved to watch her White Sox whenever she could. After many heartbreaking seasons, her patience was rewarded by their unexpected World Series win in 2005.

Peg and Dave had taken vacations with their kids several times, and later in life, they rediscovered a love of travel on their trips around the United States. They visited many national parks such as Death Valley and Mount Rushmore, and took many trips to Las Vegas. It was on these trips together that their love for each other, which was always a defining characteristic, deepened and strengthened the bond between them.

Peg Wilson was a faithful sister, a caring mother, a devoted grandmother, a loving wife and true friend. She was always available to pitch in in a crisis, and was a voice of comfort and reason to anyone who was feeling lost on their journey through life. She impacted the lives of many people in her time with us, and her presence will be as deeply missed as our memories of her will be cherished.
