Margaret “Mick” “Meg” Sarff, 65, left this life to take her rightful place in Heaven on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 9:47 pm, at St. John’s Hospital CCU. Margaret was born to Carroll “Wimpy” and Nelva Hahn Sarff on April 12, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois.
As a young child Margaret grew up in Springfield and attended one of the first classes at the newly formed Trinity Lutheran Grade School in the basement of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield. She graduated from Feitschans High School in 1964, received her Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois College in 1968. She received her MBA in English from Sangamon State University and her MBA, Library Sciences from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana and briefly taught school at New Berlin High School. Later Margaret lived in Moline for over 20 years, where she was the Assistant Director at the Davenport Public Library in Iowa. She returned to Springfield to live closer to her family after her retirement.
Ms. Sarff is survived by her sister, Patricia A. (husband Stan) Sandidge of Springfield; brother, Edward P. Sarff of Springfield, cousin Ronald (wife Joan) Sarff of Springfield; nephew Joseph T. Painter, III; niece, Katie Sandidge (Fiancé Josh Stone) and her grand nephew Jacen Michael Stone all of Springfield.
Mick enjoyed many activities such as crocheting, reading, photography, genealogy, collecting lithographic tins, Longaberger baskets and spending quality time with her grand nephew, Jacen.
Memorial Gathering: 4:30 -6 pm, Friday, August 26, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Memorial Service: 6 pm, Friday, August 26, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Thomas Radtke officiating.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the college fund for her grand nephew: Jacen Michael Stone. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.
