Margaret “Marge” B. Sklenka, 88, of Springfield died on Friday, April 10, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. She was born April 15, 1926 in Decatur to Joni and Annie Davies Helmuth. She married Raymond Sklenka on August 21, 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Dora Hedenberg and two sons, John and Joseph Sklenka.

Marge was a resident of Springfield since 1945. She retired after 17 years from the Sangamon County Sheriff’s office where she worked as a bailiff. She and her husband owned and operated Red’s Bait Shop for many years. She loved to knit and read.

Surviving are her husband, Raymond “Red” Sklenka; three daughters, Sandra (companion, Rick Pherigo) Sklenka of Williamsville, Cynthia (Charles) Lord of Newport, NC and Nancy (Bob) Crouch of Palm Coast, FL; two sons, Thomas (companion, Nancy Staab) Sklenka of Springfield and Edward (Patricia) Sklenka of Raleigh, NC; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5 – 7 pm Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10:00 am Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army; American Cancer Society or Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard
