Margaret “Maggie” L. Turner, 85, of Springfield, formerly of Rochester, died at 12:05 pm, Friday, November 3, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born May 14, 1932, in Curran, IL, to Earle and Sarah Davis Archer, and they preceded her in death. She married Everett “Jarrie” Turner on March 5, 1952, and he preceded her in death on July 10, 2015.
Maggie is survived by three daughters: Diane (Bruce) King of California, Sally (Jim) Craven of Springfield, Cherie (Don) Repp of Springfield, one son, Gary (Kathy) Turner of Colorado, eleven grandchildren: Ben (Jill) Brown, Nathan (Esther) Turner, Brett Peak, Holly (Jeremy) Kotner, Joshua (Gretchen) Craven, Caleb Turner, Erin (Jordan) Dorsey, Matthew (Sarah) Craven, Alaina Turner, Lindsay (James) Price, and Nicole Craven (Tiziano Cordi); fourteen great-grandchildren and one on the way, sister-in-law, Virginia Archer of Jacksonville, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Thomas Leonard, and George Archer, and sister, Mildred Yoakum.
Maggie was employed at Sangamon State University (UIS) retiring in 1987. She was a member of Rochester Christian Church. She enjoyed golf, playing cards, spending time with the Elks Ladies, and she was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues and above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. Pastors David Upchurch and Brad Ferris, will be officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

We are saddened by hearing of Maggie's passing. We are out of town right now. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. She was such a great lady. Always a smile and a friendly word. So sorry.
