Margaret “Betty” E. Hurley, R.N., 90, of Springfield, died at 2:35 am, Friday, August 3, 2012 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born May 6, 1922 in Springfield, to Henry J. and Margaret Burkhardt Sidles, Sr. Her parents and one brother, Henry J. Burkhardt, Jr. preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, William T. (Linda Floch) Hurley of Western Springs, IL; two grandchildren, Michael (Laurie) Hurley and Kimberley (Jonathan) Regan; four great grandchildren, Thomas, Cooper, Millar and Lyra and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She was a Registered Nurse working in Intensive and Intermediate Care and Surgery at St. John’s Hospital for 28 years, retiring in 1986.
Visitation: 4-7 pm Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:00 pm.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 am, Monday, August 6, 2012 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Peter Harman officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s School of Nursing Scholarship Fund or to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
