SPRINGFIELD – Marcia A. Dirksen, 77, of Springfield died at 9:13 a.m. on Monday, September 6, 2010 at Regency Nursing Care Residence. She was born February 18, 1933 in Quincy, IL, the daughter of William and Maxine Pevehouse Purpus. She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest daughter, Barbara Bos and one brother-in-law, Bill Sinkus.
Surviving are two daughters: Clare (Mark) Boggess of Murray, KY and Joan (Rob) Miller of Granger, IN; one son: James (Carri) Dirksen, Jr. of Madison, IN; one son-in-law, Jim Bos of Sandy, UT; six grandchildren: Annamarie and Christopher Bos, Allison and Isabel Miller, Reid Dirksen and Trey Boggess; 2 sisters: Barbara Sinkus of Rochester and Sara Graue of Chatham and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marcia was an active member of St. Agnes Church and Alpha Iota Sorority. She worked for the Federal Highway Administration for 27 years before she retired in 2002. She was a kind and compassionate woman of faith, who prayed and gave to others. She enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her greatest love was our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with prayers at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010 at St. Agnes Church with Revered Robert Jallas officiating.
