Manuel “Dee” George, 85, of Springfield, died at 1:40 pm, Friday, November 15, 2013 at Heritage Manor. He was born September 22, 1928 in Hamilton, Ohio to William B. and Vada E. Black George. He married Elnor Jewell Trimmer on November 13, 1948. His wife and parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters Evelyn George of Tallula, Vada Nolting of Springfield; two sons, Keith (Sandy) George of Jerome and Samuel (Cindy) George of Springfield; four grandchildren, Kendra (Kyle) Daniels; Pennie (Tom) Miscavich; Kevin (Heather) Nolting and Brahm George; three sisters and one brother Eileen Downey of Fischers, IN; William A. (Lou) George of Shelbyville, KY; Wanda (Bob) Chaney of Anderson; Mona Ray of Delaware, Ohio and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Manuel was raised in London, Kentucky, moved to Decatur and has been a resident of Springfield since 1949. He was a member of Springfield Southern Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years. He worked at Black & Company Hardware almost 50 years serving in all capacities. He enjoyed bowling, golf, softball and baseball.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Monday, November 18, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.
Lie in State: 9:30 -10 am, Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Springfield Southern Baptist Church.
Funeral Service: 10:00 am Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Springfield Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Keppler officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

We are sorry for your loss. He has gone on to a better life. Jim and I remember the love and kindness your parents showed us when our son Chad died. They have always had special place in our hearts.
