Marilyn and Lynette, we are saddened to learn of Lynn's passing. We saw him at the Globetrotter's game earlier this month and introduced him to our grandsons. He was very gracious as usual. Lynn was a good friend and good neighbor and will be missed. We are very sorry for your loss.

Mr. Raney was my art teacher at Monroe Avenue School. He made a huge impression on my young, creative self! He turned my class into plein air artists when the weather allowed, and we worked in all kinds of mediums. What a privilege to have art in the classroom, and especially with Mr. Raney as the teacher. He was always encouraging, and always creating something of his own. He made a three-dimensional dragon built from cardstock that had the most intricate details, like the chains built of tiny links of paper, and each and every scale... numerous paintings and drawings... I remember him showing me the pictures of the huge banner he created for President Jimmy Carter! It has been more than 42 years since I was in his class, and I have forgotten many details of my school years, but I have said his name countless times over the years, and described him as one of my most important art influences. I am thankful that I can say I was his student. What a significant loss, and my heart and prayers go out to his family and friends. RIP, Lynn Raney.

I met Lynn through Scouting. He always had a smile for me and was good to work with. May God's peace be with his family.

I'm so sorry to hear about Mr. Raney, he was my Art teacher at Kelly Ave. Grade School. My prayers go out to his family.

In the mid-70s at Kelly Avenue Grade School in Peoria Heights- Lynn was my art teacher. Imagine my surprise, years later, when I had just started delivering for Federal Express, I had a delivery for one L. Raney at a downtown office. Every time Lynn and I came across each other here in Springfield, it was a pleasure to see him again. For me and many Peoria Heights "kids", Lynn will never be forgotten. All we need to do is look up at the water tower in the center of the village and his woodpecker says "we're home".

I’ve known Lynn for many years through Scouting. We became friend I directed. I will miss him tremendoudwsly.

Lynn was my classmate at BSA Wood Badge and served with me as a Unit Commissioner. Condolences from Wood Badge C3-144-15 and the Lincoln Home District commissioner Team.

Loved our talks at my home in Camp KI-SHAU-WAU . And most of all I enjoyed the many dances we had with our friends. Many memories of and with him. NEHAMO.
