Louise Ellen Poos, 86, of Springfield, died at 12:58 am, Monday, February 1, 2016 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born May 4, 1929 in Springfield, to Joseph R. and Celestina Ciota Toigo. She married Wallace R. Poos and he preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Rose Ross and brother, Joseph Toigo.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary (Ed) Strode of Pleasant Plains; one son, Robert (Joy) Poos of Springfield; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Louise was of the Catholic faith. She worked in the accounting office for Charles Robbins Realtor and retired from Standard Mutual Insurance Company.

She loved to read, travel and shop.

Memorial Gathering: 10 am – 12 pm Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home.

Memorial Service: 12 pm Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Thelander, SJC officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association; St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
