Louis Barron, 77, of Springfield, died at 11 a.m., Sunday, February 6, 2011 at his home. He was born August 12, 1933 in Springfield, Illinois to William M. and Lucretia Pierce Barron. He married Nedra L. Killam on December 26, 1964 and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Susan Barron of Springfield; one sister, Ruth Barron of Springfield; two special loved ones, Julie Alexander of Springfield and Paula Parsons of Pelham, GA and several cousins.
His parents; two brothers, Charles and Donald; mother and father-in-law, Fred and Helen Killam preceded him in death.
Louis had previously lived in the Woodriver area before returning to Springfield 6 years ago. He was a school teacher for the Springfield School District and also taught in Woodriver-Hartford School district, retiring in 1988. Louis graduated from Lanphier High School and received his BS and MS from ISU. He also furthered his studies at SIU-E. He loved reading and studying history. He was a member of Southside Christian Church; Phi Delta Kappa – Professional Education Association; former member of Bethalto First Christian Church where he served as a deacon, elder and teacher; was also a former member of Sangamon County Genealogical Society and the Illinois Retired Teachers Association

Funeral Service: 1 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Robert Green officiating.
Burial: 11 a.m., Friday, February 11, 2011 at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, Illinois.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Memorial Home Hospice.
