Louis Anthony Oldani, 85 of Springfield, died at 11:04 pm, Monday, October 24, 2016 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born December 5, 1930, the son of James Louis and Valda Oldani. He was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Cathedral Boys High School in 1948 and St. Ambrose University in 1952.
He served as a 1st Lt. in the Air Force as a Radar observer in the F-89’s. He was stationed in Waco, Texas, Truax Air Base in Madison, WI and Fairbanks, AK at Ladd Air Force Base. He was a member of the 433rd Fighter Squadron (Satan’s Angels) during the Korean Conflict. He had a long career in the Insurance field and retired from Pekin Insurance Company after twenty three years as a Regional Sales manager. He obtained his CLU and LUTCF while employed with Pekin. Louis was always proud of his family and their accomplishments. He was an avid sports fan and a die-hard Giants fan. He loved watching his granddaughters play their sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister, Jeanette; and a sister, Norma Gvazdinskas. Survivors include his wife, Carole; son, Mark (Theresa) of Springfield; daughter, Mary Anne Oldani of Springfield and daughter, Jamie Oldani of Chicago; granddaughters, Maria and Gabrielle Oldani, daughters, of Mark & Theresa and Kathryn Dresser, daughter of Mary Anne; brother, James Oldani; sisters Audrey Dye and Shirley Oldani and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Christ the King Church with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
