Loretta M. Gaffigan, 93, of Downingtown, PA formerly of Springfield, IL and Valhalla, NY died peacefully surrounded by family on December 12, 2016. She was born on March 25, 1923 in Belleview, IL to Raymond C. and Minnie I. (Martin) Liggett. She is predeceased by her husband Walter P. Gaffigan who she married May 5, 1944. She was also predeceased by her parents, four brothers, and five sisters.

Surviving are her two children, daughter Patricia J. Griffin (Rich Hetrick) of Downingtown, PA; one son, Michael R. Gaffigan (Claudia) of Florida; five grandchildren; Jennifer (Chris) Lally, Jeff Griffin, Kelly (Dean) Moldenhauer, Nicolas Gaffigan and Sofia Gaffigan; three great grandchildren; Kathryne VonHelms, Megan Lally, and Ryan Lally; two sisters, Wilma Gant, of MO and Joann Hobbs of Pleasant Hill, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Loretta was a member of St. Agnes Church in Springfield and was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She was a homemaker, and for many years volunteered at St. Agnes and Northern Westchester Hospitals in NY. She was well known for her cooking and baking, especially her gingerbread cookies. She also enjoyed gardening and at age 65, became a talented watercolor artist. She was loving and gentle and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Visitation: 4-7 pm, Friday, December 16, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with a prayer service being held at 4 pm.

Funeral Mass: 10 am, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at St. Agnes Church with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
