SPRINGFIELD – Lorene A. Byers, 85, of Springfield passed away at 10:14 a.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 at St. John’s Hospice.
Lorene was born May 9, 1924 in Virden Township, the daughter of Ruth and Ray Lomelino. Lorene married Willard Bill Byers on September 12, 1943. She retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company after 34 years of service.
Lorene’s husband, Willard, her mother and father, two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.
Lorene was a sixty-year member of the First United Methodist Church of Springfield, member of AARP Chapter 195, member of Home Extension of Sangamon County, Christian Business Women’s Club, and the Red Hat Buffalo Girls.
Surviving is a son Larry (wife: Elaine) of Marshfield, WI; two grandchildren: April of IA and Ryan (wife: Amanda) of Madison, WI; sisters and brothers: Freda of Bloomington, IN, Kenneth (wife: Doris) of Girard, Donald Ray (wife: Patrice) of Bonita Springs, FL, Janet (husband: Larry) of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at noon Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Roger Ross of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
