SPRINGFIELD – Lois K. Hoelter, 84, of Springfield died at 2:32 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the daughter of Henry and Clara Wiese Bremer. She married Howard Hoelter in 1949; he preceded her in death in November of 1988.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters, Paula, Dorothy and Clara Jean.
She is survived by two sons, Matthew H. Hoelter of Cary and Peter E. Hoelter of Los Angeles; three grandchildren, Eric, Andrew and Alex; two great-grandchildren, Theron and Ainslie; a niece, Ann Bosma; and a nephew, Charles Brandt.
Lois was a resident of Springfield for over 40 years. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Lois was active with the Dana-Thomas House Foundation and the Sumac Shop. She belonged to Questor’s International, Valparaiso University Guild and API (American Petroleum Institute) Retirees. Lois enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling the world.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne P. Hoffman and the Rev. Lawrence Goetz officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
