Lois E. Zehr, 90, of Springfield, IL, died at 10:36 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2012 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born June 18, 1922 in Towanda, IL to John and Evan Hirst Burrows. She married Wayne G. Zehr on August 26, 1944 and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1996. Also preceding her in death are her parents; one granddaughter, Jodi Lynn Kimbro and one sister, Vivian Stewart.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Kimbro of Springfield; two sons, Roger G. (Mary Pat) Zehr of LaSalle, IL. and Ronald D. (Linda) Zehr of Champaign, IL; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one nephew, Larry Stewart of Lexington, IL. She was a former member of Jerome United Methodist Church. Lois worked at GE in Bloomington then worked for Hobbs Stewart/Warner in Springfield and retired from Horace Mann.
She was a member of Eastern Star in El Paso, IL. where she was a Past Worthy Matron. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and spending time with him in Wisconsin. She also enjoyed sitting in her driveway watching traffic.
Visitation: 9-10 am, Monday, July 2, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 10 am, Monday, July 2, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso, IL at 1:30 pm on Monday, July 2, 2012.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
