Lloyd Julian Baker, 83, of Springfield, died at 12:30 am, Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born September 12, 1933 in Wichita, KS, to Cleo Justin and Audrey Ruth Schriber Baker. He married Margaret Skeen on February 9, 1963 in Amarillo, TX, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Kay (Sean) Riley of Kansas City, MO; four sons, John Paul Baker of St. Louis, MO, Michael Joseph Baker, Robert Lloyd (Charla) Baker and Patrick Thomas (Jennifer) Baker all of Springfield; four grandchildren, Rachel, Caitlin, Kayla and Cameron; two great grandsons, Lex and Sam; one sister, Rosalie (Norman) Vogel of MO; one brother, Donald Justin (Reydes) Baker of San Antonio, TX and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lloyd was a member of St. Joseph’s Church. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from Memorial Hospital where he worked in Environmental Services. He previously had worked for St. John’s Hospital and Springfield Clinic.
Memorial Gathering: 10-10:45 am, Friday, November 18, 2016 at St. Joseph Church-Springfield, IL.
Memorial Mass: 11:00 am, Friday, November 18, 2016 at St. Joseph Church with Reverend Steven Janoski officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
