Linda R. Gebhardt, 74, of Springfield died at 11:55 am, Monday, September 26, 2016 at her home. She was born July 16, 1942 in Chicago. The daughter of Alfred and Isabel Irvine-Creswell. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey (Melissa) Gebhardt of Plainfield; one sister, Barbara A. DeNight of Normal, IL; two aunts, Lori Huels of Merrionette Park, IL and Jane Irvine of Chicago, IL.
Linda lived in Springfield most of her life. She retired from the Teachers Retirement System after 38 years as a supervisor. She enjoyed quilting and sharing her wonderful sense of humor.
Private services are being held.

There are no words one can say to ease your sorrow at this time. Just know that Linda touched many lives and will sorely missed. I will miss my best friend and there wil be an emptiness in my life as in yours. My 29 year friendship with her grew with a mutual love for our qulting obsession, our political discussions and the current television shows we enjoyed. I wasn't fortunate to have siblings, but, imagine our friendship was like a sisters' relationship. There will always be an empty place in my heart for my forever friend.
