Leon "Lee" Robinson

August 6, 1938 - March 28, 2013

Leon “Lee” Robinson, 74, of Springfield died at 12:05 am Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born August 6, 1938 in Pittsburg, IL to Joyce Van and Daphna Irene Adams Robinson. He married Marlene Marie Stone December 25, 1961.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Mary Stone; brother-in-law, George Cook; and nephews, Earl Robinson, Jr., Terry Robinson and Daniel Swader.

Surviving are his wife, Marlene; two sons, Todd Michael (Mary) Robinson and Brian Lee Robinson, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Andrew Todd, Jacob Patrick and Ian Nicholas Robinson; three sisters, Bonnie Swader of South Elgin, IL, Carol (Mark) Beck of Lowell, IN and Peggy Rogman of Ft. Myers, FL; two brothers, Clifton Wayne (Amy) Robinson of Jacksonville, FL and Earl (Lynn) Robinson of West Frankfort, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lee was a member of Western Oaks Baptist Church. He retired from C&IM Railroad. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of Land of Lincoln Metal Detecting Club, was a coin collector and was a CUBS and Illini Fan.

Visitation: 5 – 7 pm Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Western Oaks Baptist Church

Funeral Service: 8:30 am Monday, April 1, 2013 at Western Oaks Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Ingram officiating.

Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.

Memorials may be given to Western Oaks Baptist Church.

Hi Dad-It's me again, "Mom". It continues to be hard being here without you. But, it's OK because you are so much better off. Today as I was coming home from the cemetery it struck me, "now you have met my Dad". Bet you and him are having quite the time chatting, getting acquainted. And, of course you and Mom are probably having iced tea-like you did when you were there mowing her yard etc. Art & Nancy took me to California for a wonderful visit with family there. What a blessing! When I came home, Brian, Todd, Mary, Andrew, Jacob and Ian had decorated the mail box and garage door with balloons and a neat Welcome Home sign. It was great seeing all of them too. So many times while in California I wished you were with me, but, again, you are in a better place. Until God takes me home to be with you, Love Forever

Dearest Marlene, My deepest sympathy in the loss of your dear husband. Dad appreciated all you did to organize the MH-Schl of Nursing reunion, and he cherished the memories from Mom's first class. All of you were so dear to both of them. As I grieve for myself with his passing, I must think about his glorious reunion with his 'southern belle' up in heaven. I am just so sorry for your loss. To my Loving Husband, a wonderful father, In some ways it seems hardly possible it was a month ago today that you slipped into the arms of God; leaving behind the toils and strife of earth. At times though it seems you have been gone for a long time. It's been too long since I heard you call for me, or heard you say "I love you Mom!", We sure had some times together; especially in the past couple years. Praise God we had those times to share our love for each other in even more special ways than before. It is hard to go on without you, but, through faith, and knowing you are watching over me, over us, I can do it. Not a day, or night, will go by but a special memory will warm our hearts. You gave us many "Dad". You left us such wealth! Until we meet again, on those streets of gold. . . . I miss you so, so much!

Marlene, I signed the guest book but it did not appear here, you know how much Lee meant to Don and I, he was a wonderful husband, Father, and Grandfather, and always available to help anyone who needed him. It was a great pleasure knowing him, a man of faith, a man that cared for other people. May he rest in peace with the Lord and we all hope to see him again some day. Love marlene Clark and Don

Marlene, I was so sorry to hear of Lee's death. We know he is resting in peace now. Knowing that you have many friends and family to support you during this time is also a blessing. I am so sorry for the difficulty of those last days and but they are in the past and you can take a deep breath and feel at peace also that Lee is in a better place and happy. I'm so sorry to hear of Lee's passing. I had the honor of meeting and taking care of Lee at Pleasant Hill. Our midnight shift loved him and we sure do miss him! Marlene you and your family are in our prayers.

Marlene - Lee and you are loved and cared for by so many. I loved talking to you both - I marveled always the care and love you showed him and that he returned; the attitude you maintained through all these past months as things slowly changed for Lee; the stories you would tell about his times of clarity and sweetness even during the bad times; God has truly blessed you both with the kind of love that happens rarely and how blessed your children and grandchildren are in seeing that unfailing, caring, compassionate love you showed and lived with each other. Lee will be missed by so many but knowing he is where there is no more pain, no illness or sorrow must ease your mind even in this time of loss. I am thankful for knowing you both and my heart goes out to you in this season of loss.

Marlene, Todd and Brian- We are so sorry for your loss. Lee was such a kind and caring person and I know he will be missed. He went trhough so much, yet always had a smile when he talked with anyone. His struggles are now over and he can rest in the Father's arms for eternity! So sorry we will be unable to attend the service but we will be lifting up all of you in prayer.

marlene, i was surprised and saddened to hear about Lea passing.He was such a good man. it is a pleasure to know He is with Jesus and at easter.
