Leo D. Scarborough, 81, of Springfield died at 5:50 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2016 at his residence. He was born January 21, 1935 to Helen and William Porter Scarborough. He married Rose M. McGill on December 26, 1987 and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2005. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Hazel Deal and one brother, Porter Scarborough.
He is survived by one step daughter, Pam (Carl) Lamberson of Springfield; two step sons, John (Cindy) Gentile of Springfield and Ed (Teri) Gentile of Sherman; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Leo was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He enjoyed making things out of beer and soda cans and loved the Chicago Cubs. He was employed as a baker at Fleetwood and Holiday Inn East.
Visitation: 9-10 am, Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with Reverend Kevin Mann officiating.
Burial will follow Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
