Larry Dean Roth, 84, beloved husband and father, went to heaven on Friday, May 18, 2018. He was born on February 10, 1934, in Mt. Vernon, to Ralph A. and Vivian (Rich) Roth, and they preceded him in death. He married Judy Womick on July 2, 1961.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; one daughter, Laura (Bradly) Hessing and one son, Eric J. Roth, both of Springfield; three brothers, Bill (Janice) Roth of Springfield, Frank (Linda) Roth of St. Peters, MO and Jack Roth of Durant, OK, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, June Long and Janis Ford.
Larry was a US Army Veteran serving in France and Germany. He was employed at SIU-Carbondale as a computer analyst and SIU – Edwardsville as an assistant to the Provost. He also had worked as an Assistant to the Director of Registration and Education in the State of Illinois. He retired from the State of Illinois Comptroller’s Office in 1992. Larry was a member of West Side Christian Church. He was an avid reader, enjoyed family, theatre, and was involved in acting and speaking at West Side Christian Church, For One Ministry and served as an Emcee. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation: 9:30 – 11:30 am, Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am, May 24, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastors Gary Winkleman and Mike Harney officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
