Lana Denise Rister, 44, of Dawson, died at 8:10 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2011 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born December 27, 1966, in Devils Lake, North Dakota, to Richard and Shirley Shirek Rutschke. She married Roby V. Rister on November 22, 2003 and he survives. Also surviving are two daughters Chelsea L. Wilson of Dawson and Rachel (Brian) Moore of Springfield; one son, Brian A. Wilson of Dawson; one grandson Ethan; parents Shirley and Charles Patterson of Auburn; four brothers Chad (Jean) Rutschke of Peoria, Rodney (Partner: Kelly Smith) Patterson of Springfield, Greg (Jill) Patterson of Rochester, Matthew (Partner: Ron) Patterson of Merriam, KS and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lana was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She worked for Information Services at Sangamon County and was a practical joker with her co-workers. Lana was an Illini Basketball fanatic and enjoyed her annual trip to Chicago to see the Illini play. She was a devoted mother and friend and especially loved spending time with her grandson. Lana loved animals, and enjoyed being outdoors, canoeing and snow skiing.
Her father, grandparents and one nephew Bradley Rutschke preceded her in death.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home. Please wear your favorite Illini gear or orange and blue.
Celebration of Life: 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 with Reverend Dr. Wayne P. Hoffman officiating.
Burial will be on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery
The family request memorial contributions be made to an education fund for her children c/o Marine Bank.
