SPRINGFIELD, IL- Kenneth Percy Williams, 69, died at 3:35 am, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on September 25, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Eva Mae and Columbus Williams.
Surviving are long time devoted loving companion, Stephanie Wood; two daughters, Patricia (Timothy) Alexander and Stacy (Nick) Jackson; two sons, Kenneth Purnsley Williams and Eric Williams; three grandchildren, Jessica Davis, Kristin Williams and James Earl Collins-Clipper; two brothers, Charles Williams and Terry Williams; four sisters, Wanda Davis, Sherry Jackson, Diane Williams and Jean Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Williams.
Kenneth was a United States Air Force Veteran serving from October 1965 to February 1969. He attended Philadelphia Schools prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he served as security and an Air Police Officer.
He worked for Illinois Bell in Champaign and Springfield for twenty years until his retirement. Upon retiring, he worked for Hiller Storage and Moving as an operational manager and also Combined Insurance as an insurance agent.
Kenneth was a member of the Mason Lodge Lone Star #18 and Prince Hall Affiliated 32nd degree in Champaign. He enjoyed fishing, barbequing for family and friends, gardening, and was an avid poker player.
During the last few years of his life, Kenneth battled cancer and suffered a stroke in April 2016.
Visitation: 9-11:30 am, Friday, December 2, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Friday, December 2, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
