Kenneth Malin Agnew
SPRINGFIELD – Kenneth Malin Agnew, 76, of Springfield, died peacefully at home Monday, June 11, 2007.
He was born December 7, 1930 in Blue Island, IL, the son of William T. and Violet M. Ingram Agnew. He married Thelma L. Meyer Landreth on November 4, 1957 at Jerome United Methodist Church. His parents; one brother, Leonard G. Agnew; and one stepson, Mike Landreth, preceded him in death.
Mr. Agnew was owner of Agnew Electric for many years and was owner and operator of Electric Power Controls for the last 25 years. With his mastery at the piano, he entertained to the delight of all including 13 years at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor. With his devotion to Christ, he played in his later years at South 7th Street Assembly of God Church. He is loved and cherished, and influenced by all who knew him, with his humor, warmth, wisdom, and strength. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of South 7th Street Assembly of God Church.
Survivors: wife, Thelma L. Agnew of Springfield; one daughter, Kathy (husband, Steve) Walters of Decatur; three stepchildren, David Landreth of St. Louis, MO, Linda Kagel of Nyak, NY, and Tom Landreth of Spaulding; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Mark Agnew.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2007. Lie-in-State: 10:00-11:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2007 at South 7th Street Assembly of God Church. Services: 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2007 at South 7th Street Assembly of God Church, Pastor Ron Conway officiating. Burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery, where Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
