Kenneth “Ken” Daniel Wade, 67, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Port Huron, MI, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 3, 2018.

He was born August 6, 1950 in Port Huron, MI to the late Arthur and Margaret Wade. He lived in Springfield, IL, for several years. He married Patricia L. Hartz on November 13, 2015 in Carrollton, IL.

He is survived by his wife Patricia of Springfield, IL; one step daughter, Carrie Reinhart of Tuscola, IL; several step grandchildren; one sister, Janet (Arthur) Vogel of Coventry Ville, PA; two nieces, Andrea Vogel PHD, of New York and Katherine Vogel of D.C.; mother in law, Martha Chaney of Jacksonville and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by one brother, Thomas A. Wade and one step daughter, Misty (Richard) Hammon.

Ken graduated with a Master’s degree in Science in Metallurgical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan.

Ken also lived in Virginia and worked for Reynolds Metal Company in Richmond, VA, until his retirement. Upon retirement, he enjoyed traveling, reading, the stock market, clay sculpting and was a former member of the Springfield Art Association.

One of his Noble achievements as a Metallurgical Engineer was his discovery of a new alloy and the United States patents issued and presented to him in London.

Ken will be missed by his family and friends.

Cremation Rites were accorded per Kenneth’s wishes and a private family memorial will be held at a later date for his family.
