Keith Mahan, 78 of Chatham, died at 8:16 am, Monday, October 13, 2014 at his home. He was born August 16, 1936 in Taylorville, to Otis and Cleo Mahan. He married Margaret “Meg” Bryan on October 25, 1954 and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter Lori (Fiancé’ Carl MacChesney) Dodson of Chatham; one daughter-in-law, Dawnal Mahan of Chatham; six grandchildren: Travis (Tiffani) Dodson, Aubrey Dodson, Brandy (Justin) Marshall, Crystal Mahan, Brandon Mendenhall and Annisa (Rhett) Bartletti; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Leon and Wayne Mahan and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Mahan on July 1, 2011 and two brothers, Danny and Russell Mahan.
Keith was a US Air Force Veteran. He was a lifetime member of Trooper Lodge 41 and a longtime NRA member.
He was a retired Illinois State Police Trooper.
Keith was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa. He always put family first. He loved spending time with all the kids, from giving rides on his lawn mower, to whiffle ball, cards and dominos. He loved his country music and sang “You are my Sunshine” to all. He will be greatly missed.
