Kay F. Avey-Hampsmier, 83, of Springfield, died at 3:22 pm, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home. She was born July 25, 1938 in Springfield, IL to Marion and Alice (Skaggs) Ealy. She married David Hampsmier July 3, 1981 and he preceded her in death January 15, 2017.
She is survived by one sister, Susan (Duane) Goyen of Springfield; two step-daughters; four step grandchildren; and many cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one step-son.
She was a member of West Side Christian Church. She enjoyed reading and loved her dog, Mugsy.
Kay retired as a Psychotherapist after 30 years of service.
Graveside service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Mike Harney officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the Animal Protective league.
CDC protocol shall be followed.
