SPRINGFIELD – Kathryn Marie Messling, 95, a resident of Springfield since 1941, died at 9:10 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Crystal Pine Healthcare in Crystal Lake.

She was born March 11, 1913, in Chicago, the daughter of Walter and Ida Woessner Felker. She married Alvin Michael Messling in 1941. He preceded her in death May 10, 1986.

Her parents also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Messling was a teacher at Ursuline Academy and St. Joseph’s School. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and American Association of University Women. She enjoyed reading, traveling and music. She formerly enjoyed dancing.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Kay Messling of Crystal Lake, Jeanne Komnick of Zionsville, Ind., and Patricia Messling-Wysocki of Ingleside; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home, with prayers at 4:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Church, with Monsignor Thomas Holinga officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Church.
