SPRINGFIELD – Kathryn F. Martin, of Springfield, IL died at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Home in Springfield.
She was born April 20, 1924, in Springfield, to Carl and Lena Amidenk Hartmann. She married Benton L. Martin on October 22, 1965. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Arthur, Walter and Carl; and two sisters, Lucille and Margaret.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Ben, also a resident of St. Joseph’s Home; a daughter, Margaret L. (husband, Loren) Perrine of Divernon; two grandchildren, Lindsey Perrine of Champaign and Jonathan Perrine of Springfield; several nieces; and one nephew.
She was a past member of Blessed Sacrament Church, a past member of the Sangamo Club, a past member of the Zoning Board of Leland Grove, a past member of the Finance Committee at Sacred Heart Church of Divernon, and a past member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Kathryn worked at Standard Mutual Insurance for 25 years. She was the assistant treasurer with duties that included being investment manager for the company. She was a past member of the board of directors after her retirement.
A memorial gathering will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Home, 3306 South 6th Street Road, Springfield, IL 62703. A memorial Mass will follow at 10 a.m. with Reverend Charles Dahlby officiating. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
