Julia Lea Jeffers, 90 of Riverton, died at 8:50 am, Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at her home. She was born June 7, 1926 in Bloomington, to Guy and Caroline Hamlow Martin. She married Charles H. Jeffers, Jr. on May 23, 1953. Survivors include one son, James (Resa) Jeffers of Springfield, three grandchildren, Paige (Nicholas) Zepp and Kayla Jeffers both of Springfield and Jesse Jeffers (Companion, Eileen Lentz) of Riverton and three great grandchildren. Julia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles H. Jeffers Jr.; one son, Lee M. Jeffers and one daughter, Susan G. Jeffers-Casel.
She graduated from Illinois State University and was a retired Riverton School teacher. Julia was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was a lifetime member of TRN Club and was a member of Illinois State University Alumni, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority – Local Chapter- Beta Lambda. She was a retired usher for Sangamon Auditorium and volunteered at the Illinois State Museum and Memorial Gardens, Riverton Library and was co-founder of the Springfield Theatre Guild. She was educated and well-traveled. She loved her grandchildren like no other, from Friday night dinners with her besties to vacations, zoos, museums and more.
