SPRINGFIELD – Judy J. Shiffer-Brown, 70, of Springfield, IL died at Memorial Medical Center at 4:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010. She was born December 24, 1939 in Springfield the daughter of Charles and Ethel Renfro Shiffer. She married Joe Brown on March 1, 1958 and he preceded her in death on November 1, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister; Penny Vanderdrift.
Judy was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was a member of Springfield Southern Baptist Church, Women on Mission and several other church organizations. She retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company then worked as a receptionist for Illinois Baptist State Association for 6 years.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Janae Doerfler and Jill Brown, both of Springfield, 2 sons; Jody (wife: Suzi) Brown of Columbia, SC and Jay Brown of Williamsville, 3 grandchildren; Joshua, Katie, and Matthew, 2 sisters; Sandra Gaffigan and Andrea (husband: Bobby) Frantz both of Springfield, 5 brothers; Charles Shiffer of Springfield, Jon (wife: Kay) Shiffer of Bloomington, Robert Shiffer of Sherman, Michael (wife: Carrie) Shiffer and Kevin (wife: Terri) Shiffer both of Springfield, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and her devoted and loving caregiver Bruce Lowman.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Springfield Southern Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm with Pastor Michael Keppler officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Springfield Southern Baptist Church.
