Judith Kay Powell, 63, of Springfield, died on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in Pekin, IL. She was born January 2, 1948 in Springfield, the daughter of Herbert and Clara Watkins Jones.
She is survived by two daughters; Theresa (partner Phil Ratliff) Adams of Springfield and Heather Powell of San Antonio, TX; one son Scott Jones of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren Ryan (19), Kyle (17) and Tara (14) Adams; one sister Clara (Robert) Rotherham of Pekin; four brothers Herbert Jones, Gary (Judith) Jones, Rodger Jones, and LaDon Jones all of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Judith worked for the State of Illinois Dept. of Revenue as a clerk in the Motor Fuel Refunds Dept., retiring in 1995. She served our country in the United States Army and enjoyed crocheting, crafting and making “George Monkey’s”.
Visitation: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Stephen Thompson.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.

Judy and I attended junior high and high school together. I remember going to a few sock hops with her. We had lost contact until a year ago.I am so glad we reconnected last summer at a family gathering . My prayers are with heather and Therese of her family through theirtime of grief.
