SPRINGFIELD – Josephine M. Ashcraft, 89, of Springfield, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at her residence.

She was born May 2, 1918 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Edward and Angeline Mordacq McGough. She married Claude Ashcraft on November 6, 1940; he preceded her in death on August 17, 1994. Her parents and one brother, Edward McGough, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Ashcraft was a cafeteria manager at Lanphier-Edison Complex for School District 186, retiring after 17 years of service. She was a member of St. Cabrini Church, Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 756, and Retired Cafeteria Workers Bunco Club.

Survivors: two daughters, Sandra K. (husband, Kevin, Sr.) Danner and Rose Marie Landess, both of Springfield; five grandchildren, Kevin Danner, Jr., Kaylee A. (husband, Doug) Gholson, and Danielle, Michelle, and Patricia Landess; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Senior Living or Hospice Care of Illinois.

Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at St. Cabrini Church. Funeral Mass: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at St. Cabrini Church, Reverend Richard Chiola officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home of Service.
