SPRINGFIELD – Josephine E. Vespa, 94, a lifelong resident of Springfield, IL, died at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Home. She was born August 8, 1915, to John and Mary Domenica Cicci Vespa. She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Theresa Kansy, Mary and Ann Vespa; and five brothers, Romeo, Arthur, John, Vincent and Anthony Vespa.
Josephine is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She retired from Metropolitan Life as a supervisor after 32 years. She was an active volunteer for many organizations throughout her life. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, The Altar and Rosary Society at Blessed Sacrament and the St. Louise DeMarrilac Guild, where she held many offices. She led holy hour for many years at Blessed Sacrament. Josephine enjoyed golfing and spending time with her family, especially her many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend David Hoefler officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
