Josephine E. (Jo) Kornack Liggett Hoehn, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home with family present. She was born September 12, 1925 in Springfield, IL to Albert and Bessie Kornack. She married Donald W. Liggett in 1944, they divorced in 1971, he preceded her in death in 2000. She later married Robert E. Hoehn in 1975, he preceded her in death in 2006.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, son Donny Liggett, her daughter-in-law Nedla Hazelrigg Liggett, and her brother Harold Kornack.
Jo graduated from Trinity Lutheran Grade School in 1939 and Lanphier High School in 1943. Although most of her life, she was a stay at home mom and homemaker Jo was employed by Horace Mann later in life and retired in 1990 as a forwarding clerk in the auto division.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Jim) Carter of Athens; three sons, Fred (Debbie) Liggett of Largo, FL, Zane (Beverly) Liggett of Quincy and Joe Liggett of Iowa; two step-sons, Robert (Angela) Hoehn and Ronald Hoehn both of Springfield; two step-daughters, Theresa (Stephen) Singer and Esther (Michael) Bowers both of Springfield; grandchildren, Lance (Barbie) Carter, Keri (Doug) Pipkins, Dale (Chrissy) Liggett, Tara (Richard) Briggs, Erica (Jeremy) Boone, Whitney (Jon) Brandenburg, Mariah Liggett, Zack Liggett, Jamie (Charlotte) Henderson and Jessica Liggett; step-grandchildren, Joey Hoehn, Dennis (Laura) Singer, Matthew Hoehn, Amy Hoehn and Rebecca (Justin) Hamilton; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Cecelia Kolkhorst; brother-in-law, Charles Hoehn of Florida and brother-in-law William (Nancy) Hoehn of Illinois; sister-in-laws, Joann Hobbs of Pleasant Hill, IL and Wilma Gant of Springfield, MO and several nieces and nephews.
Jo enjoyed her family and family get togethers the most. Her favorite activities included reading, gardening, canning, cooking, time spent at the DAV at Lake Springfield, going to country music programs and painting. She was a talented artist and painted beautiful scenes of barns, covered bridges, flowers, animals and numerous Christmas bulbs, which she gave as gifts to her loved ones.
Jo was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 15 Auxiliary since 1976. Jo was very active in numerous DAVA activities, functions and conventions. She served as past Hall Hagler, Convention Delegate, Secretary, Department Judge Advocate, State Judge Advocate, State Executive Committee, Adjutant, and Unit Commander.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to her dear friend, Barbara Jean Curry, who brought several years of happiness and care to Jo when she lived on her own. The family is extremely grateful to the nurses/staff at Sunny Acres Nursing Home for their sincere and loving care during the past two years. Another thank you to the Memorial Hospice Service for their attentive care the past two weeks.
Visitation: 11 am – 12:30 pm, Monday, April 3, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Monday, April 3, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with Reverend Paul Hemenway officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Simmons Cancer Institute or Arthritis Foundation.

Barb, I was sad to see your mom's obituary. I always liked to deliver her meals because she talked about all of her children & grandchildren. She was excited to learn that I knew you and your family. I guess that made a connection for her between her life and Daily Bread. Please give my condolences to the rest of your family Linda
