SHERMAN – Josephine Bregowy, 89, of Sherman, IL, formerly of Springfield died at 12:29pm, Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Villa Healthcare East in Sherman. She was born May 25, 1921 in Nova Scotia, Canada to Joseph and Gertrude Karlichek Bregowy. Her parents, 3 sisters Helen Netznik, Frances Devlin and Gertrude Arnish preceded her in death.
She is survived by a sister; Patricia (Henry) Klinc and brother, Walter (Judy) Bregowy, both of Springfield, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and step nieces and nephews and 2 cousins.
Josephine worked as a comptroller for Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 34 years and worked for 2 years for CILCO. She was a member of St. Aloysius Church, a former member of P.O.L.K. of A.; Prairie State Polish Club and Illinois Bell Telephone Pioneers. She loved attending Polka dances and her Telephone Pioneers Meetings.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Friday, October 29, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Saturday, October 30, 2010 at St. Aloysius Church, with Reverend Tom Donovan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Aloysius Building Fund; American Cancer Society or Animal Protective League.
