SMYRNA, Tenn. – Joe Tracy Middleton, 96, of Smyrna, Tenn. died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 24, 1913, in Iuka, the son of Harry and Clara Martin Middleton. He married Verba Myrle Spickard on June 3, 1934; she preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by a son, Jim (Gloria) Middleton, Sr. of Springfield; two grandchildren, Jim (Cherry) Middleton Jr. of Springfield and Lynn (Brian) Romanotto of Dawson; three great-grandchildren, Jimmy Middleton III and Alisha and Brian Romanotto Jr.; a great-great-grandson, Peyton James Middleton; two brothers, Wilfred (Muriel) Middleton of Troy Ala. and Gene (Loretta) Middleton of Lakeland, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe lived in Smyrna, Tenn. for 39 years. He was a federal meat inspector. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Smyrna, Tenn.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Pastor Bennie Fisher officiating. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Lake View Memorial Cemetery in Swansea.
