Joseph M. Langston, 84, of Springfield, died at 11:15 am, Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born July 16, 1927 in Turner, AR to Roy P. and Mattie M. Hill Langston. He first married Mary E. Burt on January 18, 1952 and she preceded him in death on October 28, 2001. He then married Betty E. Benner-Seibert on April 28, 2007.
His parents; one daughter, Patricia “Patty Jo” Leitermann; one step son, Ronald Brown; a brother, Buford Langston; a sister, Emogene Corse and a nephew, Bill Corse, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Betty; two daughters, Linda (Louis) Kunz of Kincaid, IL and Carla Albright of Goodyear, AZ; two sons, Greg (Deb) Langston of St. Louis, MO and Richard (Beth) Langston of Lee’s Summit, MO; a step daughter, Dorothy (Charles) Beemen of Springfield; step daughter in law, Laura Brown, of Decatur, IL; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grand children; one sister, Muriel Cook of Royalton, IL; one brother, Charles (Frieda) Langston of Maryville, TN and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joseph was a Customer Service Rep for Kyanize Paint and Dunn Paint, Manager for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and also worked as an agent for Met Life. He was a member of Living Faith Baptist Church in Sherman where he served as a deacon. He loved fishing and was a die hard St. Louis Cardinal fan, enjoyed board games especially Dominos. He loved sharing fellowship, food and fun times.
Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Lie in State: 10:00-11:00 am, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Living Faith Baptist Church in Sherman
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Living Faith Baptist Church in Sherman with Pastor Mark Emerson officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
