SPRINGFIELD – Joseph E. Palazzolo, 81, a resident of Springfield since 1943, died at 8:34 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at his home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Sherman, the son of Dominic and Catherine Palazzolo. He married Agnes Vicari in 1961. His parents; three sisters, Agnes, Josephine and Angeline; and five brothers, Charles, Vincent, Paul, Dominic and Vito, preceded him in death.
Mr. Palazzolo was part owner of Creamy Way Dairy. He also worked in maintenance for the Club Fitness Center and formerly worked at The Georgian Restaurant and the Toddle House. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Agnes Palazzolo; daughter, Tina (husband, James H.) Boarman of Springfield; two grandchildren, Claire and James P. Boarman; sister, Catherine Williams of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Michael Haag officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
