SPRINGFIELD – Joseph Brinocar, nearly 103, of rural Auburn passed away at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield with his daughter at his side.
His visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with a funeral at 11 a.m.
He was born on October 24, 1906, in Springfield, the only child of Joseph and Johanna Brinocar. He married Mary Elizabeth Foster on May 1, 1937, in Springfield; she preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents and great-grandson, Ian Marek.
Surviving are his two daughters, Jo Ann Simkins of Peoria and Myrna (Tom) Kuehn of Normal; one granddaughter, Lori (Craig) Marek of Charlotte, N.C.; and a great-granddaughter, Kiera of Toronto, Canada.
Joseph was a farmer most of his life, east of Auburn. He was an officer of the SNPJ fraternal organization and a member of the Sangamon County Democrats and the Auburn Senior Citizens. In his later years he loved to feed and observe the habits of the birds and small animals, and to follow the prices on grain. He always loved writing, public speaking and reading as did his beloved wife, Mary.
